A Darwin man has been jailed for robbing a service station and making his getaway on a girl's pink BMX bike.
The Northern Territory Supreme Court heard 37-year-old Brett Andrew Miller stole a pink and purple child-size BMX bike from a house in Darwin's northern suburbs in August.
The next day he rode to a petrol station in the suburb of Jingili and went inside to buy an iced coffee. But after collecting his change at the counter, he thrust a knife towards the female attendant and forced her to hand over nearly $700 in cash.
He was seen by witnesses fleeing the scene on the pink bike which was later found abandoned.Police lifted fingerprints from the handlebars and arrested him at his home.
He was sentenced to five years' jail with a non-parole period of two and half years.
